Lanhydrock - National Trust Property near Bodmin

National Trust property at Lanhydrock, near Bodmin. It's a very nice day out. The house itself is in very excellent condition and there is good access to both main rooms and old servants quarters. We found it one of the best we have been to.

In addition the gardens are extensive, very well maintained and you could easily spend a day just exploring them. Unfortunately we were too late for the magnolias, however, the gardens were still excellent.

Overall a very good day out and one to recommend. Further information can be found at the following:

Walking and Mountain Biking at Cardinham Woods

If the weather is not great at the coast or if you just want to do something different then try Cardinham Woods just outside of Bodmin. This forestry commision facility is in a very pretty valley with stream, picnic tables, childern's play area etc. There are also four graded walks, one of which should be suitable for most in a party. After your walk Woods Cafe is a very pleasant place to relax with lovely cakes and tables indoors as well as out.

If you are into cycling or mountain biking then there are a number of cycle trails here. Most days there is also a bike repair and hire unit. For the more serious mountain biker the Bodmin Beast trail is good fun and well maintained - well worth an outing.

More information about the walk can be found at the following address:

Jubilee Queen Boat Ride - Padstow

Jubilee Queen
View of Camel Estuary from Jubilee Queen
Great surf near Polzeath
View of the Rumps (this picture is not taken from the boat but the view is similar)
Another view of the estuary

We took a trip on the Jubilee Queen from Padstow Harbour. Great boat with all facilities on-board including a licensed bar. Trip lasted just over an hour and went down the estuary, past Polzeath, around Pentire Head, past the rumps and to Puffin Island. Lovely views and a helpful crew. Highly recomended.
